Once upon a time…say about 5 years ago…two people were happily in love and got married…here is our love story:
When Chris & I meet I was dating some one else. Chris worked at Sigecom (now WOW) when I got hired on in Collections there, so we were work buddies, ended up at some of the same parties and group things. So, basically new each other casually.
After the some one & I were no longer together…about 8 months later…Chris & I were at a going away party for a co-worker at Hacienda and long with several other mutal friends. At the end of the evening my friend Kathy made him follow me home (Margarita’s) to make sure I got there okay (I wasn’t nearly as tipsy as I pretended to be) since we didn’t live that far from each other. The next evening he asked to to another party with more co-workers and we pretty much haven’t been apart since.
To be honest, I didn’t really want to date him. I wasn’t sure if I wanted in another relationship and he was (is) a Supervisor at work. What if things didn’t work out…could be kinda weird…arrrghhhhh…what was a girl to do? Finally I decided, what the heck, go for it (especially after my brother and sister-in-law met him and told me to marry him right away).
About, oh say, 16 months later we were having lunch at McDonald’s (the one on Green River Rd across from the mall) having a conversation about his sister which merged into a conversation about us (not quite sure how that happened) when I said:
“You know this would all be a lot easier if we were married.”
Chris: “Are you asking me?
Me: “Yes, I am…Chris will you marry me?”
Chris(with a slightly astonished look on his face): “Ok”
Me: “Are you serious?”
Me: stupid happy grin on my face
That was on a Tuesday. We called our parents and said “Hey we are getting married on our vacation next week. Which day works better for you, Wednesday or Thursday?” Thursday was the winner. We went the next day and got our license, I took TBN‘s wedding dress to be altered. That weekend we went to the Pow Wow and got our wedding rings.
We went the JOP (was sad there was no velvet Elvis to preside) on a beautiful day with just our parents and got married in front of the fountain at the courthouse. It couldn’t have been more perfect for us.
Romantic people that we are…we spent the rest of the day buying our truck.
I believe are are so blessed to have found each other, my heart is so full of the love that I have for him that I don’t feel I can or should contain it.
