It Could Never Happen to Us…But, It Did (A Wordy WW)

Posted on Updated on

You know those warnings that are PUT.ON.EVERYTHING!?

Ones like these?

We are now a PSA for this type of accident…

BEFORE you freak out, GW is OK. He was a very lucky kiddo (like x infinity lucky).

We HAD blinds much like these:

Image

Over a door in our living room. They were pulled all the way up almost all the time with the cord wrapped around the top of the blinds. Obviously to keep them out of the hands of our very X-Games little boy.

I was in the kitchen talking to him while cooking, he climbed up to stand on the back of the couch grabbed the cord and jumped. I heard him jump (which was not unusual)  and then heard him cry (which was unusual) the hurt-scared cry. When I turned round I saw the cord under his chin and my heart stopped.

After making sure he was okay, we had a very serious talk about putting things around necks…anything.

I pulled the “You could have died” card on him (he has an idea about death from when his PawPaw died). He got a very freaked out look on his face. We took the blinds down and took away his privilege of jumping from the couch.

We are totally getting the doors/windows with the blinds on the inside.
